Pecos Conference

Pecos Conference

Bears Ears Partnership is helping to organize and host the 2025 Pecos Conference in San Juan County, August 7-10.

This annual conference, named for its first iteration in 1927 at Pecos Pueblo, New Mexico, is an opportunity to share the latest updates on archaeology in the US Southwest and northern Mexico. The conference is geared toward participation by student, professional, and avocational archaeologists with a strong interest in the Southwest culture area.

BEP is pleased to be bringing the Pecos Conference back to San Juan County, Utah (where it was last held in 2014). BEP plans to highlight the cultural heritage of Bears Ears National Monument and the “Lands Between”, with an additional focus on the importance of deep Tribal engagement and co-management in public land management.
